Optionalair_Mechanical ventilation supply rate to the room in liters per second.
Used to calculate room-specific ventilation rates and total mechanical ventilation for the building.
For F280: Affects room-level ventilation heat loss calculations. For distributed ventilation, it gets applied to the room directly. For central ventilation Values for all rooms may be summed to determine whole-house ventilation rate, which is used in ventilation heat loss calculations.
For EnerGuide: Not directly exported to HOT2000 at the room level, but contributes to whole-house ventilation figures. May be applied to verify code compliance with minimum ventilation requirements.
OptionalductingThe condition of the ducts that are serving the space, if a central air system is present.
For F280: this adds to the losses coming from the central HVAC system.
Optionalentity?: EntitySee Entity. May include a r-value, otherwise r-value is assumed to be 0.
A list of all the locations the ducts coming into the space passess through. Do not repeat the boundary names; even if multiple ducts pass through a boundary. Mentioning a pass-through once applies to the entire room.
Conditioned floor area of the room in square meters.
Used in total_heated_area calculations when the rooms array is present. This is the primary source of heated area data for the building when rooms are specified.
For F280: Core parameter for room-specific heat loss calculations. Used to scale internal gains and determine the heat capacity of the room. It is strongly recommended to specify this. If left blank, the server does its best to estimate the room area from the sum of the heated spaces it contains.
For EnerGuide: Not directly exported to HOT2000, which uses total heated area rather than room-specific areas.
Optionalheated_Conditioned volume of the room in cubic meters.
Optional value that can be used instead of calculating volume from area and ceiling height, providing more precise values for irregular room shapes.
For F280: Used for room air heat capacity calculations when provided (recommended). Affects air temperature swings in the thermal model. If not provided, calculated from area and assumed ceiling height.
For EnerGuide: Not directly exported to HOT2000.
Optionalinternal_Fraction of internal heat gains attributed to this room.
Optional parameter for distributing whole-house internal gains into specific rooms. This is separate from occupants and includes loads from appliances.
For F280: When provided, overrides the default internal gain distribution that would be calculated from occupancy and room type. Used to adjust calculations for rooms with unusual gain patterns.
For EnerGuide: Not directly exported to HOT2000.
Name identifier for the room. Used as a reference in walls, attics, foundations, and other building components to associate spaces with rooms.
Used as a key to look up room properties when calculating room-specific values like heated area.
For F280: Critical identifier used when registering rooms in the energy model.
All thermal boundaries reference this name to associate with specific rooms. If a boundary does not have a room specified it goes in the default room. Therefore the Seed is a room by room calculation by default but by not defining rooms, you get a block load calculation under the default room.
For EnerGuide: Not directly exported to HOT2000, which uses a simplified room model that isn't room-specific.
Number of people typically occupying the room.
Used in internal gain calculations. Each occupant contributes approximately 70W of sensible heat.
For F280: Directly impacts internal heat gain calculations in the room.
For EnerGuide: Being a non-temporal rating, EnerGuide defines set assumptions for the occupants, so this input is not directly exported to HOT2000.
OptionalpipingThe condition of the pipes that are serving the space, if a hydronic system is present.
For F280: this adds to the losses coming from the central HVAC system. All systems are considered to be pumped as we are not currently aware of a plausible gravity system for our application.
Optionalentity?: EntitySee Entity. May include a r-value, otherwise r-value is assumed to be 0.
Floor level where the room is located (0 = basement, 1 = first floor, etc.).
Used to organize rooms by level and reduce the repetition of defining the story for each building element.
For F280: Used with the level factors to model the air leakage in different levels of the building. Number of storeys typically defines the air leakage due to the stack effect.
For EnerGuide: Not directly exported to HOT2000, which uses a simplified building model without detailed storey information.
Functional classification of the room.
Used to categorize rooms for reporting and for estimating occupancy patterns.
For F280: Affects default internal heat gain assumptions. Bedroom count is used to determine occupancy (bedrooms + 1) when not explicitly provided. Different room types may have different schedules and gain profiles.
For EnerGuide: Being a non-temporal rating, EnerGuide defines set assumptions for the internal loads, so this input is not directly exported to HOT2000.
Represents a room within the building. Contains the room's dimensions, thermal characteristics, and occupancy data.
